Kevin KAUER/NARK Magazine: About the Artist
Hard Times featured Artist Kevin Kauer/NARK Magazine is new to Seattle but in his short time here has become a respected and beloved character on the Seattle Night Life scene!
Kevin Kauer is from Elk Grove, CA, a suburb of Sacramento. And has lived in Seattle since November 2008. He is a self taught (with a little mentor ship from high school teacher) photographer and a proud drop out of the graphic design program at Art Institute of San Diego. He has an amazing blog called NARKnarkmagazine.blogspot.com where you can see his work. We asked him what Nark was and this is his response:
K.K.-Nark is the living, breathing, almost speaking and walking love-child of all of the above. It’s a personal homage to every person as an individual, not as a group. It was first conceived as a street fashion chronicle, but quickly evolved into a documentation of what is happening right now and who is doing it, it’s a sort of physical form of my respect for our flourishing generation and what it creates. Nark is not a societal critique but an appreciation. Right now, as it builds more substance, Nark is online and blog based, but if I can keep getting more of all this wonderful support it will become a printed reality hopefully by the end of the year, and continually print thereafter.
My two main goals with Nark is to have an artistically uninhibited creation of my own, and to show appreciation for everyone I involve. I want Seattle to know that someone is watching them, and bring more creative souls out of hiding.
